1 - Reflection on Previous I Search Experiences (due Thur, Mar 15)
1. What are some of the previous research projects you have done?
I performed an I-Search research paper in 6th grade. I wrote a report about our own Utopia in our English class. Also, I did a couple of History papers in 7th grade, as well a geography project. These were a fun, yet lengthy assignments, and I am excited about doing another one.
2. Based on these projects, what does research mean to you?
Research, to me, means gathering information from many different sources and then paraphrasing that yourself. If you just copy information from a website then that is plaguerism.
3. Describe one of your research successes or failures. Why was the experience positive or negative?
The 6th grade Utopia paper was a success because I didn't waste any time, and I completed every assignment on time, and correctly. The geography project in 7th grade went well, but I didn't complete all of me work in on time, therefore, I lost a few points here and there. Alltogether, my view on projects are positive, because it is a good way to learn instead of writing notes, or listening to a lecture. Teacher Response 3-15-07

2 - Reflection on Webbing Process (due Fri, Mar 16)
1. I think the webbing process helped/did not help me find a topic because:
This organized my thoughts and allowed me to go back and retype my ideas on what I wanted to research. Also, I can go back and see what I wanted to research if I forgot what I wanted to do.

3 - Why I Chose This Topic and What I Know About My Topic (due Fri, Mar 16)
1. Topic:
The Boubonic Plague
2. Why you chose it:
I'm very interested in medicine and its history. Therefore, this is an exciting topic for me to write a paper about. I'm looking forward to researching and finding out more about this topic.
3. What you already know about your topic:
The plague started in the 1400's, and no ine, untill the late 1800's, knew how to cure, or even prevent this disease. It was very contageous, and its symptons were terrifyingly horrific. Rodents, such as rats, and flies transferred the disease the wiped out 1/3 of Europe's population. This is what I already know about the Boubonic Plague. Teacher Response 3-16-07

5 - Reflections on Pre-Notetaking - for homework (due Tue, Mar 20)
1. Describe how the pre-notetaking sheet helped you find both focus for your topic and research questions to investigate. Did you find it easy or difficult to create a fat question from your ideas?
I was able to record all of my questions so that I could go back and see what I want to research. I was able to focus on the topic because I had to think about what I wanted my questions to be, as opossed to having general questions already generated for me. It wasn't easy to find a fat question because some covered a wide range of topics, and others seemed as though they were fat questions as well. Overall, I believe that this method of brainstorming was very effective, and helped me put down all of the ideas that poped into my head. Teacher Response 3-21-07

1. What have I learned today?
That the Plague was named, "Black Death" because it caused black nodes to swell. Then, you'd die soon after this sewlling occurs.
2. What problems have I had?
None so far.
3. How will I overcome the problem(s)?
4. What will I do next?

1. What have I learned today?
That people, including the Pope, would light many fires around their bedrooms and house to ward off the fumes and polutants that were carried from the Plague. Also, families would board up sick victims in their houses, and wouldn't allow him/her to come out until he/she was healed, or died.
2. What problems have I had?
None
3. How will I overcome the problem(s)?

1. What have I learned today?
During th plague's uprising, many people didn't eat because it was supposedly "Contaminated by the air," when in fact eerything that they were consuming was contaminated. Also, people didn't use spices for their food because these came from contaminated ships and would contaminate the consumer.
2. What problems have I had?
None

Finish my bibliography and works cited page.
